Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to the questions Saskatoon homeowners ask us most — about service, maintenance, financing, and more.
How often should I have my furnace or AC serviced?
Once a year per system — a furnace tune-up in the fall and an air conditioning check in the spring. Regular maintenance keeps your equipment efficient, prevents breakdowns, and protects your manufacturer warranty. A Priority Service Agreement keeps it scheduled for you.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates on new equipment and installations are always free and come with no obligation. We'll explain your options and the trade-offs so you can decide what's right for your home.
Are your technicians paid on commission?
No. Our technicians are non-commissioned — they're paid to solve your problem, not to hit a sales quota. Every recommendation is the one you actually need.
Do you offer emergency service?
Yes. We provide 24/7 emergency dispatch, every day of the year. If your heat or cooling goes out, our technicians answer day or night.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Saskatoon, Martensville, Warman, and the surrounding communities — a 50 km radius in every direction from our shop on Kochar Avenue. A mileage fee of $2/km one-way applies outside that coverage area. Not sure if you're covered? Give us a call.
Which HVAC brands do you service?
We service every major HVAC brand, including Daikin, Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Mitsubishi Electric, Goodman, Rheem, and more. We are also a Navien Service Specialist and Navien Install Certified.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer flexible financing options, free estimates, and honest upfront pricing — so cost never has to stand between you and a comfortable home. Financing is subject to credit approval.
What does a maintenance plan include?
Our Priority Service Agreements include a yearly tune-up, priority scheduling, member discounts on parts and labour, and no after-hours surcharges.
Why is my furnace blowing cold air?
Usually it's one of a few things: the thermostat is set to "ON" instead of "AUTO" (so the fan runs even when the burners aren't firing), a clogged filter or blocked vents are causing the furnace to overheat and shut down the burners, the pilot or ignition has failed, or a tripped high-limit or flame sensor needs attention. Start by checking the thermostat setting and the filter. If your furnace still blows cold in a Saskatchewan winter, don't wait — our technicians are on call 24/7.
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
A good rule of thumb: repair if the furnace is under ~15 years old and the fix costs less than a third of a new system; consider replacing once it's 15–20+ years old, needs a major part, or your heating bills keep climbing. In our −40°C winters, an aging mid-efficiency furnace also runs harder and longer, so a high-efficiency replacement often pays back faster here than in milder climates. We'll give you the honest math — repair cost vs. replacement, and any financing — and never push the upsell.
Is a heat pump worth it in a Saskatoon winter?
Cold-climate (ccASHP) heat pumps keep working well below freezing and can cut shoulder-season heating costs, but in Saskatoon's deep cold most homes pair one with a gas furnace as a dual-fuel system — the heat pump handles mild days, the furnace takes over in extreme cold. It's a great fit for the right home; we'll assess your setup honestly and tell you whether it makes sense for you. See our heating & cooling services.
Do I really need air conditioning in Saskatoon?
Increasingly, yes. Prairie summers are getting hotter and the heat waves last longer, and many older Saskatoon homes were never built for it. Central air and ductless mini-splits are a fast-growing upgrade here — a mini-split is ideal for additions, older homes, or rooms that are always too hot. We install and service both.
How long does a furnace last in Saskatoon?
Most furnaces last 15–20 years, but our long, hard heating season means equipment here runs far more hours than in milder climates — so real-world lifespan depends heavily on upkeep. Annual maintenance is the single best way to reach (and pass) the high end of that range. A maintenance plan keeps your system tuned and your warranty intact.
Can you help me understand SaskEnergy rebates?
Yes. As a SaskEnergy Network Member, we install qualifying high-efficiency furnaces, boilers, and water heaters and can point you to the rebates you may be eligible for. Rebate programs and amounts change from year to year, so we'll confirm what's currently available before you commit. See rebates & savings for details.
